March 2010. As part of our ongoing support of micro lending, Hunter Douglas is pleased to support the Guarantor recruitment efforts of MicroCredit Enterprises.

This non-profit 501(c)(3) uses the good credit and financial standing of its Guarantors to back thousands of tiny loans made around the globe to help the most impoverished, rural poor who are typically existing on less than $1 per day.

Since disbursing its first loan in 2006, MCE has:

– Financed loans for over 175,000 poor micro-borrowers – 86% of borrowers were women
– 71% of borrowers lived in rural areas
– Impacted the lives of over 875,000 individuals
– Issued loans to 50 MFIs, many of which provide microfinance ‘plus’ services (education, health care)

Reaching its goal of 100 Guarantors, MicroCredit Enterprises will help provide food security for over 1.5 million people. Hunter Douglas provided MCE with key financial support at the outset, and supported marketing efforts for the development and distribution of the MCE brochure which ran in the Financial Times FT Wealth Magazine.
